About the Artwork
Black and white art has the unique ability to be both soothing and dramatic. The emotional pull of the clear whites, rich blacks and smooth grey gradations give a timeless, elegance to the art.

The art work covers a range of wildlife and includes botanical, abstract and other subjects to provide additional interest to gain wider support for conservation.

Artist's Stipple work - BLACK & WHITE DOTS
The stippling method has mostly been used for scientific and illustrative botany purposes. However, worked artistically stippling can obtain a high level of detail with subtle or dramatic impact in the full exploration of tonal ranges, patterns, textures, and effective multi-layering. My many years of pen and ink work affords an intimate level with the materials which is essential to this technique as is the close affinity, observation and knowledge of the subject. I work in the full tonal range black on white and also white on black.

I work experimentally with adapted stipple techniques and with single or multiple glazing and with tone or colour washes.

Other Artwork
Alongside black and white ink I also work in transparent watercolour, gouache, egg tempera, coloured pencil, coloured transparent ink, oil,  graphite, charcoal,  silver / metal-point, and gold and silver leaf artwork. I use professional high quality, achival fine art materials for all my art.

I am a Signature Member for international society ARTISTS FOR CONSERVATION and a member of USA Botanical Society ASBA.
